Dating Apps Schnapps |My Thoughts|

Dating apps has been a subject of talk around my peers in the past months (when you’re in your 20’s/30’s amIright?! Lol), then I realized something…
A friend was sharing of a friend who’s been dating a lot for the past three or so years through dating apps, and she still hasn’t found anyone to get serious with. When I look around me, I hear stories of how people date around, find or maybe not find someone, but in the end, they don’t find that fulfillment in anything they’ve tried when it comes to dating.
When you’re single, it’s so easy to funnel down the “main reason” of feeling alone because you are… well, single. But even when you’re in a relationship, you can still find that same “emptiness” or the same bouts of insecurities you had before you were in a relationship. So, what seems to be the problem?!
That emptiness, that void, that feeling of being unwanted, unloved, not chosen— those are lies but we do legit feel them, don’t we? We go through life searching to solve that problem of deep longing, that deep desire… So, we buy things to fill that void, we go through relationships seeking to be loved.
In Pensées VII, Blaise Pascal wrote “What else does this craving, and this helplessness, proclaim but that there was once in man a true happiness, of which all that now remains is the empty print and trace? This he tries in vain to fill with everything around him, seeking in things that are not there the help he cannot find in those that are, though none can help, since this infinite abyss can be filled only with an infinite and immutable object; in other words by God himself.”
CS Lewis referred to it as the “God-shaped hole in our hearts”.
That is true. Until we find that satisfaction and contentment with Jesus, we will always have that Jesus void. We will continue searching for things and relationships to fill it up, but still come up empty. I don’t have to convince you to know it’s true. The truth is, only He can fit the puzzle. It’s always been meant for Him to fill that up.
Going back to the dating convo… but why is it even us single Christians (or even the married ones) go to apps and church parties, frantically and desperately looking for that someone? (Tbh, it annoys me when someone only comes to church to find someone and drops off the face of the earth when they found someone, anyway that’s another topic) Now, I ask this question, why are we so desperate? Did Jesus really fill that void of desire in your heart then? Because I assure you, if you haven’t let Him fill you up, you will still go through life trying to fit everything to fill that desire in your heart. How can I say this? I’ve read and heard countless stories from married people (even Christian ones) who go through the same pattern. Searching and searching and never finding, because the one you’ve been looking for has always been there holding your hand- or He is already in your heart! We only have to look at Jesus and let Him do the work.
How do we exactly do this? Well the answer sadly is not as straightforward. I am still in the journey on this myself, but in recent years, as I matured in my relationship with God, this answer has matured with me too. As you open your heart to Jesus, the prayer of “Jesus you are the only One” or “You are enough”, will become more and more your reality. I have grown in my understanding of God and Who He truly is, and how this applies in my life.
There are so many layers in this, and it is truly my desire to walk with you in this. It is not a “one time” thing bang bang, you get the instant answer. It’s a daily thing. It never finishes. We are constantly growing, in theology terms, “sanctification”. And that in itself is the beauty of this life we get to live with Jesus.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic. What are your good or bad experiences with dating, dating apps, etc.? Where are you in your “finding contentment in Jesus” walk?
If you found yourself needing a friend or someone who can help you in your faith, I would love to connect with you. Comment or email me, sign up to my blog, DM me on Insta, I have all the details in the sidebar. I would love to connect with you, sis!

There was a shift in me when I truly and finally realized that my life will never ever be stable, from the world’s perspective anyway. And I cry as I write this, it’s beautiful. When I said YES to my Jesus, it wasn’t a YES to a stable perfect human life, where everything is sunshine […]
So many people are shifting in to the Vegan lifestyle nowadays. From 0.4% in 2015, it has then spiked to 6%, that’s 600% increase! (Global Data) Despite that amazing growth, many people are still hesitant to take the plunge or try Veganism. Why? Well, let’s look at 5 common myths about the Vegan lifestyle, specifically […]
Isaiah 6:3 And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” I used to think Heaven would be boring. When I read the Bible, it says we would worship God forever. My 14-year old self was not excited about that. (haha!) Well, […]
Ready? Here we go. On the 4th of November, 2019, I finally launched my online course on Plant-based lifestyle I call “HOW 2BPB” (which simply means “How to be Plantbased”) Yes, me! I launched a course online! What? I think I am the most surprised of us all. If you asked me 5 months ago […]
On Monday, the 4th of November, 2019, I launched my Plant-based lifestyle online course I call “HOW 2B PB”, which simply means, “How to be Plant-based”. Why this online course? As a Jesus-loving human being, I firmly believe God called us to love Him and one another, be in a relationship with Him and to […]
Watching the “Good Place” tv series made realize how hard it is to be a good person these days. At one point in Season 2(?), they mentioned the point system they followed to determine if you go to the Good place or the Bad place. One hundred years ago, it was probably easier to do […]
Last Wednesday, I shared an “Unforced rhythm of Grace” post. It didn’t quite cover everything, so here’s part 2 of that post. Have you ever prepared for something and it never happens? (ha!) I remember growing up, my Dad would always prank us by telling us to get ready to go to the mall. […]
Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG) “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy […]
Romans 8:37 (NIV) “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Back in the glory days of Rome, a “Roman triumph” was a parade of celebration by the victorious military commander. Let’s bring that concept into this verse and picture this: You drive into the city, head held high […]

APARTMENT TOURS and ETERNAL MANSION

I cannot lie, I have been very much into home interior design for the past two years. Hence having moved to two different apartments in the past two years, I’ve decorated my apartment/room in glee. I currently live in a supposed to be sunroom converted to bedroom, and it is the size of a studio bedroom. It is my sanctuary. I believe I have rearranged my room four times already, until I find a new comfort.
What is the point of this post? Well, I was watching yet again another apartment tour on my favorite channel- YOUTUBE channel, haha!
I was marveling in wonder the different features in this 12-foot tall, all floor, 9 bedroom luxury apartment in New York when my thoughts shifted to eternal things. Well, as a beloved daughter of the Most High King, of course my mind went there. OF COURSE the Holy Spirit led me to those thoughts. There was no way I was simmering in jealousy, I was just deep in admiration in the beautiful technology and designs found in the apartment. BUT to be honest, that is nothing, NOTHING in comparison to what awaits us in the future, the eternal glory of our KING, that is GOD. *chills*
I cannot even begin to imagine what it will be like then. Each of HIS children, have a mansion to themselves? WHOA. I found myself whispering simple words of a daughter to her Father, “Lord, can I decorate the mansion You’re giving me to whatever I like?” haha! IMAGINE!!!

Hey there! This is just something I wrote from my heart earlier this year. It’s crazy how when I read this now, this is not where my heart is anymore. TIME HEALS. So, whatever you are experiencing now, THIS TOO SHALL PASS. BE ENCOURAGED. xx, Jenna I think it is unfair, absolutely unfair how you […]
Why must we romanticize everything we experience? I know that is not accurate for every person in the world. We are after all, made of different seeds and hues. I am talking of myself. Perhaps, without the risk of sounding immature, when we are kind, hopeful, and positive in aspects that matter, we do have […]

Hi guys. If anyone is actually out there reading my blogs, hello to you! The beginning of this year has been challenging in so many ways already. In my quiet times with the Lord, I have come to realize one life defining revelation. For the sake of personal reasons, I will not share that revelation […]
Hello to you! . This week, had a one week off from college, and other than work, I rested. Like really rest. . Went around the city too. But mostly rest. . Can I stress that even more? ha! . For a person who is quite an ‘Achiever’ (I feel accomplished when I tick off […]
Hi there! Memories are a fickle thing. You create them, try to preserve them, and sometimes flick through them in your mind. I love making new memories, and of course, take photographs… Recently, I went on a trip to Melbourne. What really made it more memorable was my company and hangin’ out with […]
Five years today. To be quite seriously honest, August is the hardest month for this joyful lady (that’s me!). It’s quite hard to remain happy when you live sandwiched between two of the most heartbreaking days of my life (thus far). 8th of August and 27th of August. Those 20 days in between, I […]
How many of you out there can honestly say you’ve never been heart broken? I believe each and every one of us have experienced different kinds of heartbrokenness. Small or large scale, it’s the same thing= our hearts got broken. It can be through a disappointment when you didn’t get the job you wanted, failure […]

What are YOU thinking?

just a photo I had on my phone that seemed good to post along
I’ve been locked up in my apartment for the past 4 days, studying and studying and studying. But amidst all my studying, I’ve been also thinking. Thinking about how evil and unfair the world is. You do good, you are kind, you help people, your motives are right and pure, but sometimes the world still hates you. (and no, this is not coming from any experience I have at the moment, just…thinking).
And so I decided to make this post.
Yes, the world may seem evil and well, terrible things do happen everyday. One day you can be rich and famous, and the next you find yourself broke and beaten up. I recently read Yemen, a country so deep in famine and in the middle of war was once upon a time known as sophisticated and rich.
My point is, we go up, we go down, “life is a rollercoaster” as Ronan Keatings sang. Being treated unfairly and failures can happen all the time. Injustice is cruel. We naturally get sad and depressed. But we must pick ourself up again and ask “am I happy?”. Well, that’s actually a stupid question if you are actually sad and depressed because it means the answer is you are not happy. However! How do you get happy again?
In whatever circumstance you might find yourself in, retrace yourself babe and find your inner calm. Ask yourself “what is it I really want?”. Find your purpose. Yes! Find your ‘why’ and from that pick up the pen and start writing. Write down a list of things you want to accomplish. Those dreams you’ve always had since you were a little child. Draft and edit your resume if you have to. But remember! Before that, answer the question- ‘what is my WHY’ first.
Aah, thinking is a dangerous past time I must say. Because all of these thoughts got birthed from thinking.
I wanna know, how about you? What are you thinking?

book talks

People often tell me that I am kind and understanding. I am not denying both but honestly I’m not perfect. One thing I want to share though is that there was something that actually helped me become more understanding and empathic. It’s reading. I have always loved reading out of leisure. However, six years […]
Hey guys! Today I’m starting to call my video book reviews “book talk”. Because I’m talking about the book, and I’m pretty sure it’s the equivalent of “book reviewing” (written) to the booktubing world. Anyway, I’m probably confusing you so let’s just stick to me talking about a book, hence “Book talk”. Today, I’ll […]
