“An arrow of venom pierced my heart. This is why humans invented lies, I thought. No other animal in nature lies. The truth is ruthless. It cuts you open, shoving your face into the mud. It forces you to look reality in the eye and deal with it. To feel the real weight of the world that you live in.” Shen, LJ.
Lies. What do you think of when you hear or read the word?
Men have killed because of lies.
Women have been abused because of lies.
Children have suffered because of lies.
Manipulation inked with the dark shame of truth.
Humans because of the darkness that penetrate our humanity naturally abhor light and truth and all good things.
We hope for good things but we evade the truth.
Honesty exposes pride. Strip off pride and you are vulnerable. We dodge, we escape… we lie.
We lie because we are afraid. We are ashamed. We are ashamed that we crave the control, the manipulation, the self-manipulative and pleasure-building songs.
In the end is it worth it?
Is it worth your soul?
Is it worth the depth of protecting your own pride, your own self in the risk of harming others?
At the end of our life, surely there will be a second where we reflect, what have I done with my life? Did I succumb to the lies or did I seek to quench the emptiness in my soul with the Truth?
Or was it all a lie?
