The queen has returned.

Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past…

She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen’s triumphant return.

The fourth volume in the New York Times bestselling series continues Celaena’s epic journey and builds to a passionate, agonizing crescendo that might just shatter her world.

(BRACE YOURSELF GUYS, I HAVEN’T HAD ONE OF THESE CRAZY REVIEWS IN A WHILE)

(YOU’RE WELCOME.)

AMAZING. EPIC. AAAH!

There’s just so much energy flowing inside of me (even writing this review two months after reading the book!) guys, thinking of how GOOD this book was and now finally am able to talk about it!
I can’t even begin to describe how much I L.O.V.E this book! We had some I-don’t-want-to-read-you-anymore moments but I always somehow find myself picking it back up again after a few seconds (didn’t even last a minute! darn it!) LOL. Overall however, this book has been a dream come true for the past year I’ve been waiting to read it. And I just wanna say I totally influenced my flatmate into reading this series and SHE LOVES IT! (Hi Alison! love you!)

Disclaimer: I kind of went on this review with the thought that fellow Throne of Glass series readers read ’em, but please don’t be discouraged if you haven’t read the series yet! This is maybe(?) an encouragement for you too! 🙂
Okay, I guess this is the part of my review where I talk about details? Let’s take out that check list and start of with number one!

First, I have a love-hate relationship with how this book is sometimes painfully slow and dragging but at the same time I live for those “nobody is dying” moments and “we’re just chillin’ here like a villain'” short breaks in the beginning of the book. I personally think the alternating silent slow paced and action-packed scenes are mercies to my heart.

Second, am I the only one who still SHIPS Dorian and Celaena/Aelin here? I know that ship has sunk/sailed few books ago, BUT STILL. I am crazily delusional that for the next three books, it’s GONNA HAPPEN you guys! Because. You can’t just kill that ship off. YOU CAN’T! (this is me throwing off a tantrum)

Third, let’s actually talk about the STORY. It’s not just good, but SOOO GOOD! Seriously, the plot twist ever turn of the story, which is by the way in every chapter, just gets to me. Every flippin’ time. I JUST CAN’T you guys. It’s driving me crazy thinking what’s gonna happen in the next books because THREE books is like another trilogy. What happened in the first book? It’s like it doesn’t even matter anymore! Nothing holds constant in this series better than CHANGE. And I admit, I like it! Sometimes! I can’t just pick ONE particular scene I like the most..because even from the start- Aelin rescuing Aedion, and how she actually PULLED THAT OF?? by HERSELF. She is awesome. There’s so much female domination in this book lols.

Fourth, Lysandra. Like, what the freak? Where did that firecracker come from? I salute!

Fifth, what is that about Dorian and Manon–hinting of a –can’t even say it!!!!!

(won’t even go down that road yet because NO)

Sixth, I’m incredibly LESS annoyed by the POV’s Manon Blackbeak (I’m not entirely sure if that’s how it’s rightly spelled…but who cares! lol) chapters. Somehow, I grew to love it.

Seventh, did I talk about the WRITING? and how phenomenal it is? Okay.

Eighth, I’m just going down and up on this list like a dysfunctional roller coaster, I don’t care anymore. Aelin and Rowan. Okay, I liked Rowan at Heir of Fire, he’s undeniably awesome! Especially, when the book so REPEATEDLY says there’s nothing NOTHING absolutely NOTHING, they’re just PLATONIC- him and Aelin. Then book four comes out and Aelin starts talking about Rowan like something ROMANTIC happened between them.

This is the STRONGLY DISLIKE part in the series I was previously talking about. The easy way love is thrown in the book is annoying as hell and it’s REALLY irritating. I’m not PRO Celaena and what’shisname (I had to literally look him up) Chaol, but even my pro-Dorian heart empathizes with him and how his and Celaena’s romance just ended like it’s nothing.

Ninth, let’s pull up this review again. Every book just makes you love ONE more character. Okay, let’s get real. First book, Dorian love. 2nd, Chaol maybe. 3rd, Rowan. 4th, Aedion. 5th? Who knows?

Tenth, and maybe the last one! I just love how a community has built upon this book series! Because reading a book, I believe, must not end on your brain receiving the story, but we share! Share thoughts about the book! And just eventually, sharing our love for reading. And well, for the sake of this review, this book serieS!!!

In case you guys couldn’t tell, I get so “!!!!!!!” AND ALL CAPS UP KIND OF GAL WHENEVER I REVIEW A BOOK I CLEARLY LIKE. LOVE. LIVE. aah. 🙂

Hope you enjoyed this review, and hope it helped you decide what to read next or what book to put on your (already) long TBR. 😉
BTW, I’m not even the slightest surprised that this book won a Goodreads Choice Awards. K, bye!

5 Stars
