CBM 2014 faves

Hi there my lovely readers! Every year, I gather all what I’ve read and pick out my favorites from the pile. And this year, I’ve done the same. And with the same categories as last year. And I think I’m sticking to this. 😉

Oh, and I made a video for it! I hope you’ll keep on watching!

(links to goodreads 🙂 )

my Top 5 favorite BOOKS of the year.

(because picking just ONE is impossible)

*published this year*

Dreams of gods and monsters by Laini Taylor

City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

Ruin & Rising by Leigh Bardugo

.

Best Sequel (middle book) in a series

The Revenge of Seven by Pittacus Lore (James Frey and Jobie Hughes)

because that screwed up middle of the sentence ending was just too much. And the book is just action after action after action. No boring moments.

.

Best Last book in a series

gosh this is hard since pretty much my top 5 includes last books in series I love and adore.

But I’ll pick..

Dreams of gods and monsters by Laini Taylor

Because among the 5, it’s the one with the most elaborate and elegant writing. and just. I can’t even describe all the feels swirling inside me while reading the book. I pretty much swallowed it whole.

And it has the most beautiful ending.

.
Best YA debut (with author)

Side Effects may vary by Julie Murphy

(I was going to pick Exquisite Captive by Heather Demetrios because I luuurve that book so much but then…)

.

Favorite Standalone and Best YA contemporary

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

.

Best YA high fantasy

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

.

Best Dystopian

The Forever Song by Julie Kagawa

.

Favorite NA standalone

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

.

The Book with the MOST FEELSssss

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

.

The Book that Made ME CRY buckets.

Mud Vein by Tarryn Fisher

I basically allow myself to read a book I know I’ll cry a lot, maybe once a year. I do cry at some books I read, BUT never cried the way I cried here.

Tarryn Fisher, if you’re reading this. I love you to bits for making me cry haha

.

Couple of the YEAR award

I’m nearing saying Warner+Juliet, but I thought though they made me feel a lot of feels BUT their relationship was..haha.

America + Maxon =

lots of hearts! They’re so cute! And sigh. just.

.

Most Feel-good Read

Magnolia by Kristi Cook

This will be the book I’ll re-read and re-read, just to feel light and good. It has that country hometown feel.

.

Best Book cover

The One by Kiera Cass.

that is one gorgeous cover!

.

Favorite Publisher (just because.)

Spencerhill Press

-Kate Kaynak is the kindest editor I’ve ever met! And their staff is the friendliest ever!

.

Favorite Self-published book

The Elsker saga by ST Bende

.

Favorite quote from a book:

“There are so many ways to be brave in this world. Sometimes bravery involves laying down your life for something bigger than yourself, or for someone else. Sometimes it involves giving up everything you have ever known, or everyone you have ever loved, for the sake of something greater.

But sometimes it doesn’t.

Sometimes it is nothing more than gritting your teeth through pain, and the work of every day, the slow walk toward a better life.

That is the sort of bravery I must have now.”

Veronica Roth, Allegiant

Allegiant by Veronica Roth

If you reached this point reading, thank you! 🙂 I hope this year brings us all goodness and kindness and of course great books! 🙂 HAPPY NEW YEAR!
