Title: The Geography of You and Me
Author: Jennifer E. Smith
Publisher: Headline | Poppy
Date of Publication: April 10, 2014 | April 15, 2014
Genre: contemporary YA romance
Lucy and Owen meet somewhere between the tenth and eleventh floors of a New York City apartment building, on an elevator rendered useless by a citywide blackout. After they’re rescued, they spend a single night together, wandering the darkened streets and marveling at the rare appearance of stars above Manhattan. But once the power is restored, so is reality. Lucy soon moves to Edinburgh with her parents, while Owen heads out west with his father.
Lucy and Owen’s relationship plays out across the globe as they stay in touch through postcards, occasional e-mails, and — finally — a reunion in the city where they first met.
A carefully charted map of a long-distance relationship, Jennifer E. Smith’s new novel shows that the center of the world isn’t necessarily a place. It can be a person, too.
my thoughts banner.
I am so happy to have the chance to read Jennifer E. Smith’s third book! From the first moment I read and waited for The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, I knew I would love it and I did! Then This is What Happy Looks Like came out, and then this! There is some serious theme with these books other than their comparable cutesy book covers with cute chalkboard fonts. It has something to do with setting and love and fate.
I know it comes out too impossible and too cheesy cliche for a teen romance book, where boy meets girl, boy likes girl, girl likes boy, fate and circumstance against them, they overcome it, blah2x. Though with Jennifer’s books, it’s not that dramatic. Maybe what captivates me more is something with her elusive writing, or it’s with her relatable characters? Maybe somewhere along those lines, but all I could say is I just simply love her books. It makes me feel dreamy and it’s just sweet!
Lucy and Owen are two teenagers coming from two very opposite way of life. The way they interacted with each other, their honesty in their own thoughts, and undeniable attraction that goes beneath the physical, and mature-for-their-own-age thinking, and the series of forthcoming and unfortunate events that happened…The Geography of You and Me will just make you wish you were with them. While I still will vote The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight as my favorite among Jennifer Smiths’ books, this one is not a bad one!
NOTE: A copy was read in exchange for an honest review. 🙂 Thanks to my pips over at Pinoy Book Tours! heya guys!
