The Wanderer Blog Tour: Q&A with Robyn Carr and giveaway (US ONLY)

Posted April 5, 2013 by Jenna in author interview, blog tour, GIVEAWAYS / 0 Comments

Hi guys! I know I’ve been MIA on the blog for a few days (1 or 2), anyway, I’m back with another blog tour with a giveaway!

Today, we have a tour stop for the Wanderer blog tour. The book is by Robyn Carr, a really famous #1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling author 🙂 I am one of the lucky girls to be invited to be part of this short blog tour.

The Wanderer is the first book in her new series, Thunder Point series. It came out just this April 1. 🙂

For the tour stop, we have a short Q&A with the author, Robyn Carr, plus we are giving away a paperback copy of The Wanderer. (US only)

Enjoy!
Q&A with Robyn Carr

Q: Which female character from the first three books in the new series—The Wanderer, The Newcomer, and The Hero—is most like you and why?

A:  Every female character I write about will have some of my traits, but no character will be like me because I’m not that interesting.  To understand them they have to have qualities I get—maybe their hopes and dreams.  But to be interesting to me and thus to the reader, they have to have qualities I admire but have always felt out of my reach somehow.  I usually can’t fully understand a character or situation until I’ve written about them or their dilemma.  I like starting with a problem or issue I can’t figure out—writing about it helps me understand it better.

Q: You’re known for being an inspiration to new and aspiring writers in all different genres. Is there one piece of advice you would give to someone who wants to become a writer?

A:  Forget about what’s selling well today and just write what you most love to read!!

Q: Do you write every day? Do you have a writing routine?

A:  Every day, unless I have other commitments.  I don’t write well on the road or in hotels. I’m too easily distracted.  But I am usually home, and at home, I write—seven days a week.

Q: If you could go back 15 or 20 years ago and give yourself one piece of writerly advice, what would it be?

A:  As above, I wish I’d have stopped worrying about the “market” so much and concentrated on writing the books I was driven and inspired to write.  They might be harder to sell at the time, but in the long run they’re usually the better and often more successful books.

More about the book:

Nobody is as surprised as Hank Cooper when he receives a phone call informing him that his old army buddy, Ben, has been killed and left a few things for him in his will. When Coop arrives in Thunder Point, Oregon, he’s stunned to find Ben’s Bait and Tackle shop in total disrepair. Even more surprising – in his will, Ben has left Coop the entire property.

A nomad at heart, Coop never imagined himself settling down for long in any one place, let alone a rundown tackle shop/bar in the middle of nowhere. Things get further complicated when he meets local coast guard Sarah Dupre and her younger brother, Landon. With the whole town watching for his next move, Coop must choose between his old life and a place full of new possibilities. A place that just might be home….
